Former SEC Commissioner provides experience at the intersection of ethics and government policy

PORTLAND, OR., November 29, 2017 – Leading ethics and compliance software company NAVEX Global announced the appointment of Troy A. Paredes, founder of Paredes Strategies LLC and former Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to its Board of Directors.

“Troy brings a wealth of experience that intersects compliance legislation, regulation, enforcement and best practices,” said Bob Conlin, NAVEX Global President and CEO. “We welcome Troy’s rich insights and experience and look forward to leveraging his deep understanding of governance, policy and cultures of success. He will bring tremendous value to our board and ultimately to the organizations we serve.”

“NAVEX Global stands to help customers move from simply complying with the rules to fostering value systems, which in turn build long term sustainable success,” said Paredes. “I look forward to contributing to NAVEX Global’s mission to help organizations protect their people, reputation and bottom line.”

Paredes served as an SEC Commissioner through the 2008-2009 financial crisis and its aftermath. He was actively involved across all aspects of the SEC’s mission of protecting investors, maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitating capital formation. Since leaving government, Paredes has had a wide-ranging consulting practice focusing on regulation, risk management, compliance, and governance.

Before becoming an SEC Commissioner, Paredes was a professor of law at Washington University in St. Louis and a professor of business (by courtesy) at Washington University’s Olin Business School.
