You will join our Transformation organization at a pivotal moment as we build NAVEX’s AI Center of Excellence from the ground up. This is not a traditional “Head of AI” role. You will help redefine how the company operates by enabling every business function — Finance, RevOps, Marketing, HR, Sales, Legal, InfoSec, and Customer Success — to work alongside intelligent AI agents that accelerate outcomes, improve decision-making, and unlock measurable business impact.

As our Head of AI, Center of Excellence, you will serve as the single point of accountability for transforming NAVEX into a genuinely AI-native company over the next 18 months. You will lead strategy, architecture, execution, and governance while remaining deeply hands-on in building production-grade AI systems and agentic workflows. What you’ll do:

  • Define and lead the strategy, roadmap, and operating cadence for NAVEX’s AI Center of Excellence
  • Build, lead, retain and mentor a high-performing team of AI and integration engineers
  • Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI agents and agentic workflows across multiple business functions
  • Personally contribute hands-on technical leadership by building complex agents, establishing architectural patterns, and setting engineering standards
  • Deliver 20–25 production AI agents in Year 1 with measurable EBITDA impact and operational adoption across business functions
  • Partner with executive leadership and functional stakeholders to identify high-value AI opportunities and prioritize investments
  • Establish scalable governance frameworks covering AI evaluations, observability, security, compliance, model management, and cost tracking
  • Drive vendor and tooling decisions across model providers, orchestration frameworks, integration platforms, and observability solutions
  • Collaborate with AI Champions embedded across business functions to accelerate adoption and business impact
  • Communicate AI strategy, adoption metrics, ROI, and operational outcomes regularly to executive leadership
  • Create a culture of experimentation, accountability, and operational excellence within the AI organization

What you’ll bring:

  • 10+ year of engineering and analytical experience, including deep expertise in production LLM systems and agentic workflows within the last 18–24 months
  • Proven experience taking enterprise AI agents from prototype to scalable production deployment with measurable business outcomes
  • Strong hands-on expertise with modern AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or comparable technologies
  • Experience designing systems involving RAG architectures, evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, tool orchestration, and enterprise integrations
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as both a strategic leader and hands-on technical contributor
  • Exceptional executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex business problems into scalable AI solutions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment with ambitious business goals
  • Bonus:
    • Experience building a “0 to 1” AI function in an established company
    • Experience integrating enterprise SaaS platforms (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, Workday, etc.)
    • Experience with AI governance, evals and observability in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments
    • Previous experience as a founding engineer at an AI-first start-up
