ISO 37002 and the EU Whistleblower Directive

Can the ISO guidelines for whistleblowing management systems (ISO 37002) help organisations develop a compliant response to the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive?

As the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive takes effect in December 2021, organisations with 250+ employees will need to establish the right processes in place to meet the minimum standards. We take a look at the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to see whether the ISO 37002 standard can help organisations to develop an appropriate response to the Directive.

About the Datasheet

Learn how the voluntary standard provides guidelines to help organisations establish a whistleblowing management system. An internationally recognised framework, we investigate how the standard incorporates global best practices for the development and deployment of the processes that are at the heart of EU Directive’s requirements including:

  • Creating safe reporting channels for workers
  • Ensuring workers know how and where
  • Acknowledging the receipt of reports and providing timely feedback
  • Protecting the confidentiality of whistleblowers and those named in reports
  • Protecting employees from retaliation
