Position Summary:

What You Will Do:

  • Lead a team of engineers while also being an individual contributor to keep your dev skills sharp

  • Oversee the design and development of product features and modernize technical debt

  • Promote opportunities for refactoring by examining patterns of system usage and identifying areas of optimization

  • Provide technical oversight over feature development, ensuring appropriate test coverage, and reviewing and approving pull requests

  • Remove roadblocks and/or bottlenecks for the team and resolve questions in real time

  • Participate in sprint planning of work that will be coming into future sprints

  • Work with the team to help drive sprints to completion

  • Participate in elaboration and design sessions with other engineers, architects and product managers, providing constructive and honest feedback during sprint retrospectives to understand business requirements, translating business needs into technology solutions

  • Take advantage of extensive use of automation, including continuous integration, automated deployments, automated unit and functional testing

  • Provide constructive and honest feedback during sprint retrospectives so we can continuously improve

What You Will Need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical disciple or equivalent work-related experience

  • 7+ years working as a full stack developer, desirably in a web-based or multi-tier system and at least 3+ years in leading a team as a team lead or a tech lead

  • Experience with object-oriented programming concepts such as design patterns, encapsulation and inheritance as well as database design and software architecture

  • Strong knowledge of Agile software development best practices, unit testing, continuous integration, etc.

  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications with IDE, SQL profiler, Chrome developer tools, etc.

  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to learn and come up to speed on new technologies quickly

  • Must have experience with the following technologies:  JSP, JavaScript, Java, Spring framework, Tomcat, Hibernate, MySQL, and any cloud knowledge, preferably AWS.

  • Nice to have experience in Web API, React JS, Typescript, Node.js

  • Knowledge of GitHub best practices for team development involving feature branches, pull requests, release tags, etc.

  • Strong time management, problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and influence others on the best solution

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to engage and collaborate with people across a variety of levels with diverse backgrounds
